A Good Day

It was a good day for ForwardEver's beloved soccer squads. With eyes on the local, national and international matches, I'll let the headlines tell the stories...

In England…

Arsenal 3—Liverpool 0
Arsenal moved up to third in the Barclays Premiership and all but ended Liverpool's title hopes with a 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Mathieu Flamini, Kolo Toure and William Gallas secured a sixth Premiership win for the Gunners and closed the gap on leaders Manchester United to eight points with a game in hand…

In Texas…

Dynamo 1–Revolution 1 (Dynamo 4-3 in PK’S)
Just when the New England Revolution seemed mere minutes from finally winning an MLS Cup, Houston's Brian Ching brought the party to an abrupt halt. Then the (FORMER SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES) Dynamo striker put the Revolution away for good. Seventy-one seconds after New England's Taylor Twellman broke a scoreless tie with barely seven minutes left in overtime, Ching brought a Houston-heavy crowd from desperation to elation with a stunning header for a 1-1 tie, forcing a shootout. Sunday. The Hawaiian garnered the MVP trophy by delivering at both ends of the field for his team, which prevailed over the New England Revolution on penalty kicks 4-3 after extra time had finished 1-1

In San Francisco…

Mission 1—O’Connell 0

The AAA Boys Soccer title was contested Nov. 11th at SOTA with Mission High School Bears successfully defending their title, coming away with a hard fought 1-0 victory over John O'Connell. The [O’Connell] Boilermakers had three shots careen off the post in the waning minutes that could have tied the match. Fortunately for the Bears those shots didn't reach the net, and their 38th minute goal held up. The annual Transbay Boys Soccer series begins today, Nov. 13th, with AAA Champ Mission hosting Fremont of the Oakland Athletic League.
