Roots & Rockers

(Chuck Fenda–a.k.a.the Living Fire and “Mother Earth” defenda.)

ForwardEver Radio Presents: Roots & Rockers
Running Time: 56:30
Download here (ctl-click/right click icon) or here (backup).

Music notes: The production on Chuck Fenda’s “Mother Earth” is by the Juke Boxx Records crew, very organic. Check the lyrics on Richie Spice’s “Sunny Day”–its more a lament than a celebration, and phrophetic as ever. Akon’s “Mama Africa” definitely sounds inspired by Garnett Silk, but because its Akon, an audience that wouldn’t normally know about reggae is seriously digging it–call it the “Musical Youth effect…” Cocoa Tea, Ras Myrhdak and Beenie Man are on German producer Brotherman’s Bodo Riddim – watch out for the cat, he’s producing at Tuff Gong with Jamaica’s best, big tune dem! Half Pint sounding as nice as back in the ‘80s–that’s longevity, reggae style. Cocoa Tea, Leroy Smart and Super Black do their thing on the classic “Denise” riddim for Jammy$. Marley’s “Shinning” remix is from Roots Rock Remixed, featuring the likes of Jimpster, Fort Knox Five, King Kooba and Trio Electrico. The Daweh Congo dub is available for download on his website. Read about Nucleus Roots in the Universal Egg post for XLR8R linked on the left ForwardEver scrolls sidebar. Marcus is one of FE’s favorite artists discovered over at Versionist.com–Dutch dub goodness. Enjoy!

Technical notes: Mixed using Ableton Live 6 and M-Audio O2 controller.
