This month in
Wiretap Magazine, I wrote a lengthy profile of local San Francisco violence prevention organization
United Playaz.
They do a lot of work in local schools, streets, prisons and anywhere else youth are liable to encounter violence. It's an extremely successful program whose motto "It Takes The Hood To Save The Hood" is taken literally -- many of the counselors and mentors are former felons.
